Knowledge and Skill You Can Trust
As an attorney who is knowledgeable about the criminal law field, I know that being arrested (or simply just investigated) in relation to a crime is a very serious problem in a person’s life. Once the District Attorney or U.S. Attorney decides to file a charge against you the stakes gets even higher – fines, jail time, registration requirements for some offense- are just a few of things a person must attempt to avoid. You need the right attorney.
You need an attorney that will fight for your rights at every stage of process, i.e. before charges are filed to convince prosecutors that the case has no merit, and after charges have been filed to get the case dropped or to show the prosecution won’t meet its burden at trial. You’ll need the help of a tactful, experienced lawyer during these times to make the difference in your case.
In the end, the criminal justice process revolves around your life, your family, your reputation, your freedom, and your defense. When dealing with something that affects your life so much, you need to take care in selecting the attorney who will fight for you. As an attorney that tirelessly fights for YOU, I never forget that. My goal is to make sure that you are treated fairly throughout the criminal process, and that you get a resolution that has the most minimal impact on your life. To me, you are what matters most!
My experience is to your advantage
I have prepared long and hard to be your criminal defense lawyer. My educational background began at California State University Fresno graduating with a degree in Public Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I continued my studies at the University of the Pacific- McGeorge School of Law and graduated in the top 10% of my class, with a top student award in Criminal Law. But it did not stop there. While in law school I interned at the Madera County District Attorney’s Office, the California Offices of Attorney General and the United States Attorneys.
After graduation, I worked for the civil law firm of McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard Wayte and Carruth in Fresno, CA. before being hired by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney (DA). As a DA, I effectively prosecuted crimes involving DUI, Burglary, Robbery Drug Possession, Drug Sales, Spousal Abuse, Attempted Murder, Child Molestation, White Collar Crimes and various Three Strikes cases. I chose to leave the District Attorney’s Office to defend those accused by the government of crimes they did not commit or were being unfairly treated. I have successfully defended and helped ensure the freedom of people accused of three strikes crimes, robberies, gun offenses, drug crimes, embezzlement, sex offenses, DUIs and many other types of serious offenses. In addition, I have saved professionals from losing their licenses and reputation due to serious work related and non-work related allegations.
You need a criminal lawyer who is determined!
If you have been charged with a crime, it is important that you hire the best attorney possible; someone very familiar with the law who also knows how prosecutors think and plan, and knows how to fight your charge at every stage. Furthermore, one should hire an attorney who has developed formidable negotiation and courtroom skills who ensures the best possible outcome for my clients and who is prepared to go to trial when necessary in order to seek an acquittal verdict.
I am that criminal defense lawyer; not only because I am very good at what I do but because I am passionate about fighting for you. Fighting for my clients with courage, compassion, and confidence is non-negotiable for me.
A detail-oriented approach
Beyond the expertise, experience, and the enthusiasm, you also need a Sacramento criminal lawyer who pays attention to detail and is willing to work on those details in your case. Your freedom may hinge on a single detail… a single witness that needs to be investigated… and a single new judicial decision dictating that what the police did to you was not in concordance with the law. It is not by chance, that I win many cases for my clients due to my attention to detail with follow-up and follow through processes of investigating the evidence… I am keen on the details because I know how important they can be to winning your case.
If you need help in a criminal law situation, time is of the essence. Call me today so I can start working on your case with the focus, detail and determination it requires to find crucial evidence that places you in the strongest position to win. I will give a free initial consultation. Once I am hired, we can sit down together and create a strategic game plan for a successful outcome.
David W. Bonilla has an enviable record of winning cases for his clients. No matter how serious the charge, he works to find the weakness in the prosecutor’s case forcing a dismissal or convince a jury that the evidence is insufficient resulting in acquittal.
